REITs: Spreads as Wide as a '70s Necktie
Reit stock prices going up is only one way the yields can come down. The other way, in this environment, seems much more likely.

TIPS: Nominal Yield, Risky Real After-Tax Return
Inflation has been a nothing event for twenty years. Interest rates have been driving the train. TIPs and treasuries are equally exposed to changes in interest rates. Why not expect them to act the same?

Runaway Inflation: Do TIPS Really Help?
Inflation and interest rates rise together. Let's say they both go up 1%. The market value of your TIP will drop by its duration, ie., 6%. Another 1% increase in CPI and your investment drops another 6%. Am I wrong about this? That does not seem like protection to me.

Greenspan Blasts Housing Bubble He Helped Create
You can blast Greenspan because you don't need him; in fact, freelancers and blogs are the only place where you might find criticism of public figures. The white house press corps, Jay Leno, Maria Bartiromo - they all have to suck up and throw softballs in interviews because if they make their guests angry, they won't get another chance.

Hog-Wild Grain Prices Put the Pinch on Livestock Farmers
COW's futures are short term. It cannot take advantage of the expected shortage in livestock 12-18 months out. By the time COW buys those it will be too late.

I don't know how one can take advantage of the current slaughter but I do not believe COW will do the job.

Why Emerging Markets Can Be So Volatile
How can you "conclude" that the emerging market float is 1/9th of the world float by examining VWO? It's like saying the beach is 500 yards long by examining a grain of sand.

Why do you say the size of the emerging markets free-float can be "represented"... by VWO? Do some research, please!

I appreciated the observation as well. My portfolio has baskets for commodities and emerging markets. I've had Brazil and Russia ETFs in the emerging markets basket; maybe I should move them into Commodities and rebalance from there. Maybe I won't, but the article has given me an idea.
