Citigroup Report Further Fuels Debate About the Future of Gold
Well then..go buy yourself some treasuries for Xmas. Backed by the full faith and credit of the USA. That seems like a real safe bet.
Faith in who? Credit as in debt? You betcha!

      Lock in Low Gas Prices
Interesting Holiday weekend to say the least. Mumbai is an inkling of what's to come worldwide. No one in the International Intelligence aparatus saw this coming, just as most of the Economic Intelligence aparatus missed the downfall of the global financial economy...
      Anybody wonder what is next?
As some of us keep saying, be prepared. Now.

      Breaking News:
Recent terrorist attacks in Mumbai, India mean all bets are off. Gunmen lobbing grenades off the Taj. These luxury hotels are hubs for foeigners, and hostages have been taken. This does not bode well for tourism and other markets.

Better Than the Depression? Don't Kid Yourselves
Investors and the general public had no idea what was coming down the pipe in 1929. ALL were caught unaware.

      Reread your history: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...

You now have the opportunity to prepare yourself and your family, if you so choose, to minimize your chance of suffering massive setbacks during this time.

It is great to continue to be optimistic! But..meanwhile, be pragmatic. During tough economic times take some precautions for yourselves. look how many people have been caught with their pans down. Do you have any idea, really, how your employer is weathering this mess?

We have a business that employs 14 individuals that rely on their job to feed, clothe, provide health care etc.. for their family. Trust me, none of them have any idea what the balance sheet is for our business, or how it has been affected by this market.

So, you too, unless you are self-employed, and very well -heeled, have no idea when the domino that is falling is the one that is right behind you...

Prepare in case you are wrong. Your family will thank you for it.

Is the Price of Gold Being Supressed?
Manipulated? Absolutely. But now, with the Saudis, Swiss, China, Iran etc... buying at record rates it is getting harder to fake the paper.
Gold is currently at $816oz... we will see where it goes from here. Eventually, the dollar will devalue and you will have to choose your currency or metal...

Deflation, Monetary Velocity, and Why Gold's a Buy
I think that there are alot of Americans still willing to wake up and spend into oblivion. The problem is that the banks won't lend and the credit card companies keep raising the interest rates. Now, people can't even make the minimum monthly payments.
The banks getting all the bailout money need to pass it along to businesses and consumers willing to borrow and buy land, expand their businesses etc... Credit card companies need to lower their rates - after all they are being bailed out by their customer -the taxpayer! Where is the Congress and Paulson in all this??? Create some rules before you dole out the money!!

If the U.S. Is in a Financial Crisis, Why Is the Dollar Rallying?
The dollar is so high, and yet those in the know, and those with the money are moving into gold. Look at Saudia Arabia, China, Iran, Argentina, India, the Swiss etc... Even the citizens of Vietnam are buying gold in small amounts and burying it around their huts.
The dollar will not hold long term so watch what else everyone else is doing for clues....

Why the Dollar Has Rallied During Current Crisis

Exactly....and then what currency shall we be holding??

      Deflation Now; Inflation's Coming
"There are other problems, but the structure of the preferred bank infusions makes clear that the Fed/Treasury are aware of the longer-term implications of what they're doing."

Oh yes...If they are so aware of what they are doing , please tell me why we are in this mess in the first place? They have NO idea what they are doing, which is why the bailout hasn't worked and why companies are going bust at record numbers. Notice the jobless numbers? There is no "plan"... just a series of last ditch efforts to plug a dike with your remaining 4 fingers.

The entire globe is facing a financial meltdown and the dominos will continue to fall... Invest in Walmart and Target, they will be the only stores people will be shopping at this Xmas.

Did anybody get the memo on CNN this morning that your dollarb is buying less groceries?

That's right. Kellogs, Skippy, and Dryers prices have risen 30-60% so they have reduced package/content size - while keeping prices the same so that you the consumer don't realize you are getting less.

Like it or not, that is hidden inflation....

What Does the Recent Saudi Gold Rush Mean?
And so it goes.... To those who are piecing the puzzle together -and it appears that there will be few of us that make it out of this mess alive.. Thank God we don't pay attention to the enless stream of BS that we hear.

Remember that you were warned long and often to buy gold and silver and to buy on dips...and if you haven't, you have only yourselves to blame.. When you only watch FOX news, or only follow CNN you will most suredly be taken to the cleaners. Start reading news from around the world, and pay attention to what is happening on the streets. If you have access to the internet, and you do, you have no excuses.

By the way, Google "tent cities" and check out the videos of cities nearby. It will shock you.

Gold Tests Its Reversal Level: Third Time's the Charm
For all the hype, I find just as much, if not more bashing. You are right that everyone is guessing at this point about every stock and every sector. What else is new on financial blogs?

The key, like bluesmoke says, is to hold a certain percentage of your portfolio in metals. Unfortunately, not everyone understands why they need to do this and that is why we keep repeating ourselves...

      Is Hyperinflation on the Horizon?
In the end, it will be the populace that determines the mode of exchange. Bartering, black markets and gold historically have been used in times of turmoil.

I would say this is becoming one of those times across the globe. If there is no trust in the fiat currency and the government's effort to back it up then all bets are off...

Seems to me that this is where we are headed. You can hedge your bets to any degree you feel comfortable, but as many of us keep saying, you had better be hedged...

So it continues...and so many think that we are making this up. This is only the beginning.. By now, if you were paying attention, you have your gold and silver and have added to your storehouse of provisions. Buy now while the dollar can purchase goods at decent prices. If we are wrong, then make a massive donation to a foodbank in 12 months. If not, you have a head start.
      Good luck.
